Greetings, Salutations and other forms of “Hello!”
The name is Katie Haywood and I am a vocalist extraordinaire! Finally level 7 at Whitireia Polytech, so on the brink of (potentially) becoming a household name. It has been long and hard, much like a fire truck at times, but an experience I will be forever thankful for.
A weird hybrid, mixed with Sarah Brightman, Charlotte Church, Hayley Westenra, Adele and Simone Simons (although less aesthetically pleasing to the eye). So, if any of these artists float your boat, consider me an extra floatation device.
Even though I’m very fond of most styles of music, light classical is my game. So if it was in “Les Miserables” I’ll probably sing it. However, for the past four years I’ve been learning a more contemporary style of singing, I was initially classically trained and sang a lot of opera.
My Father passed on his love of music to me through osmosis, and unofficially I am named after the 70s pop star, Kate Bush. So I was destined to be a performer. Even though I did not grow up in a musical family, there was a definite love of music in the air, which has influenced what I like and don’t like musically.
Some of my other musical favourites include:
David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Nightwish, The Pretenders, Blondie, Sarah McLachlan, Eva Cassidy and Christina Aguilera.
Enjoy My Happy Blogging!
