So, the last time I posted I was ranting about how the only celebrities that seem to have blogs these days are all idiots. I don’t mean to offend anyone that reads this but I really did not want to correspond with someone like Snooki… or any of the Kardashians… the fame hungry shrews!!! (My opinion, please don’t hit me!)
I found this out and I’m super excited…
AMANDA PALMER HAS A BLOG!!! *does a little dance*
What I’m really digging about this blog is that there are heaps of really cool photos that have been taken by her, people in her touring party as well as professional promo shots and the like. I also like how it’s easy to read, with having nice stand out colours that contrast with each other. I love the writing style in her blog as well, it’s quirky, like her personality and easy to read and follow along.
She is also an advocate against things like bullying, especially internet bullying and it is a subject that is close to my heart. I guess that is another reason why this blog appealed to me so much. I commented on her blog too! I’m so excited! 🙂
… and now it’s back to hilarious lists where people are posting blogs like “Famous guys named John” … “Famous singers with red hair” and… “famous people with non famous spouses” 😛
Give me strength…
As most of you might already know, this blog is the product of an assignment I have to do for school, I’ve got no issues with having a blog, in fact, I think it’s a bit of fun 🙂
However, as part of this blogging assignment, we have to locate people within our art form who have a blog, for instance for my case, a singer who has a blog. The thing is, I can’t seem to find anyone who I’m interested in who has a blog.
Whenever I go on google and type in the words “Singers who blog” all I seem to get is informative blogs about singing techniques and all that jazz, not any famous singers who blog. If I type in a specific singers’ name followed by the word blog, all I seem to get is young people who have started a blog solely dedicated to the life and times of whichever singer it just so happens to be.
This is one of the things that annoys me greatly…
If I type in something like “celebrity blogs” I get more or less the same thing, a young person who has regular blog posts focused on the life, times and antics of celebrities.
Another thing that annoys me…
Finally, if I type in the words “celebrities who blog” I get a selection of websites with lists of celebrities who just so happen to have a blog. I thought this was going to help me greatly, but the problem is… It’s all filled up of people such as The Kardashians… Snooki… and some Playboy model girly type things…
This is annoys me most, because unfortunately, I think all of these people are IDIOTS!
Help me please Janet!!!
I’ve been in the wars…
Well, not entirely true, but I am in a tiny bit of pain. It’s my left foot (not to be confused with the Daniel Day-Lewis film) it just started hurting for no apparent reason.
On Tuesday afternoon, whilst I was conducting a singing lesson with my (one and only) pupil, it just started hurting for no apparent reason, I had to say to him “I’m sorry, I have to sit down my foot is very sore” despite the fact that there wasn’t anything visibly wrong with my foot.
There is no swelling and neither are there any bruises, so I have no idea what’s wrong with it. Both of my (physiotherapist) parents can’t for the life of them think what’s wrong with it so I’m stumped! The pain has more or less gone now, still gets a bit pinchy at times but otherwise, it’s well on the way to be mended.
The terrible thing about this sore foot is that it does have some rather serious repercussions regarding my singing. You can’t really stand with both feet firmly on the floor when one is a bit sore, constantly having to change your stance because you’re in pain is not only distracting and annoying it makes you sing, well, like crap (pardon my French).
As if it couldn’t get any worse, this morning when I was having my morning coffee, I was trying to swat a fly just as the kettle was coming to a boil, my hand moved right over the spout trying to get rid of this fly and a large globule of boiling water spurted out and landed on my hand! Needless to say…
I can still say that… it isn’t even lunch time yet…
Just thought I’d touch base and write a new blog, so Janet, you CAN decide whether to mark this or not, but this a blog for the HALIBUT! (I made a funny..)
So, as a child I was born and raised a catholic so I’m pleased to announce the election of Pope Francis! 🙂 The first Non-European to be elected Pope in god knows how long. His real name is Jorge, something something and he is from the South American country of Argentina.
Then my Musical Theatre took control of proceedings…
I started to think of things like, Would he be a handy person to interview if I was to do a song from Evita? I wonder if he met Eva and Juan Peron? After all, he was the president of Argentina… a wee while ago now but none-the-less, it’s the same country. I wonder if he knows the words to “Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina” hmmmm *ponders*
Despite the fact that I am only a spring chicken of 26, this is the third pope I’ve seen in my lifetime, I don’t know whether to feel special or not. Ok, twist my arm, I will feel special! 🙂
In other news, I started my Transcription Homework. I decided to Transcribe the song “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” from one of my faves Jesus Christ Superstar. I just have one thing to say… Andrew Lloyd Weber, my lord, you sure do go against the grain and have the oddest number of bars in your sections! I always knew you were a bit odd… but you know how the saying goes, “birds of a feather, flock together” 😛
Welcome to my blog! 🙂 This is my first blog posting so sit back, relax and have a cup of tea.
My name is Katie Haywood I am 26 years old and I am studying music at Whitireia Polytech. I am currently in my third and final year of study so I’m at the beginning of my journey and on the cusp of greatness.
I have been singing since I could talk, my Father can remember me, aged 4, in the back of his Volks Wagen Beetle singing along to Peggy Lee’s jazz hit “Fever” pitch perfect! He passed on his passion for music through osmosis so I am destined to be a performer.
The style of music I am mainly interested in singing is light classical, i.e. Broadway style show tunes and some Operatic Arias. However, I have over the past four years been learning a more contemporary style of singing, I was initially classically trained.
So if you’re partial to a show tune, aria or power ballad I’m your gal! You could very well like my style of singing if you’re a fan of the likes of: Sarah Brightman, Elaine Paige, Patti LuPone, Hayley Westenra, Charlotte Church and Katherine Jenkins. Some of my other musical influences include: David Bowie, Christina Aguilera, Eva Cassidy, Celtic Woman, The Rolling Stones, Nightwish, Evanescence and Adele.
I am on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube…
You can check me out on YouTube here!
Hope you had a wonderful day and enjoy blogging! 🙂
